Assisted Living in Charlotte, NC

When a parent needs more help than family can give at home, House of Peace offers care day and night in a licensed Charlotte family care home for up to six residents, so your parent lives in a real home and your visits go back to being visits.

House of Peace is a 5,000-square-foot adult care home licensed by NC DHHS. The owners approach the work as a ministry, and our care team, the Resident Ambassadors, covers three shifts, so someone is awake and in the home day and night.

What families often notice first

When living alone starts to need more support

Many families start looking after a fall or a hospital stay, when a decision has to be made in days instead of weeks. Starting the conversation earlier gives your loved one more say in where they live next.

Medications get missed or doubled

A weekly pill box stops working once the days of the week start to run together.

Meals are skipped or repeated

The refrigerator often tells the story first: untouched leftovers, or the same simple meal every day.

Help is needed at night, too

Family can often cover the daytime, but no one can stay awake every night for long.

Our owners cared for their own loved ones before they opened House of Peace. They built it for this in-between stage, when needing help with a few daily tasks should not mean giving up the feel of home.

“The staff and management at House of Peace have been amazing the almost three years my stepfather lived there. It’s a very warm, cozy and peaceful environment… I always had peace of mind knowing my stepfather was in good hands and being well taken care of.”

“I was in search of respite care and was fortunate enough to find House of Peace had 1 available space for my dad. Care was top notch… They also provided me with support as it was my first time leaving him in the care of others outside of family.”

“Having spent more than 25 years working in assisted living and memory care administration, I know what quality senior care should look and feel like… In a smaller family care home, the little things matter: knowing someone’s routines, preferences, personality, and what makes them feel comfortable and secure.”
Stephanie S.Senior care administrator

“As soon as we toured we immediately sensed we had found something special. We were impressed by the small six bed size, the homey feel and by Tracie and Ramona. Both were very helpful in the transition helping further assure us we had made the right choice.”
Steve M.Son of a resident

“Tracie and Jennifer were excellent providers who knew their patients and gave an excellent report. They had a sense of familiarity with their patients that made them seem like family, and the genuine care and concern they demonstrated was astounding.”

What Your Loved One Can Count On

A six-resident home lets Resident Ambassadors learn each person's routines, preferences and what makes a good day. Every resident has a care plan written around their health needs.

Is House of Peace the Right Fit?

Our home is a good match for older adults who walk on their own or with a cane or walker and need help with daily tasks, medications or reminders. It is not the right setting for someone who uses a wheelchair full time, needs bed-level or skilled nursing care, or needs a secured setting for advanced memory loss.

Noticing mild memory changes? We complete a personal assessment before move-in, and if needs change later, we help your family arrange the next step.
